It's the end of the year, but that doesn't mean my work slows down. I seem to be on planes just as often as I've been before. This time I'm heading out of town for another episode of "Bang For Your Buck" for HGTV. Each time I work on the show I am astonished at the home interiors, and the value that design plays on your property value.

If you've never watched the show, let me give you a little background on what it's about. The show is about 3 separate homeowners who have remodeled a certain part of their house. All 3 homes have redone the same part of the house...for the same amount of money...BUT the question is, who used their money more wisely according to their design for the room and most importantly resale value! That is where the professional designers like Vern Yip, David Bromstad or Taniya Nayak come in. They look at everything, with a real estate expert to determined...who got the biggest BANG FOR YOUR BUCK?!! Making sense now hugh?!

I always start my day really early. I do the makeup and hair on the designers and real estate specialists, and later on the homeowners. Then I get a chance to look around at the room we have to shoot. The homeowners are always proud because they've put so much time, effort and heart in their property and you get to hear the true journey it was to decide everything, even something as simple as a door knob.

I've been working on this series ever since the first couple of episodes and it always amazes me, no matter how many times we have to be in someone's home, on all of the ways that people renovate their property. From kitchens, to basements and master bedrooms to bathrooms, the more shows I work on the more I appreciate that there is more than meets the eye!

Some home owners do such an amazing job remodeling their rooms, that it doesn't even seem like the same house that it used to be. I've seen bamboo floors, automatic toilets, light therapy showers, robotic light fixtures...you name it!....the list never stops. Remodeling and decorating a home is a whole 'nother level of art too. Each house has it's own unique style and personality! I always get an education, especially when I think it looks perfect and one of the designers or real estate agents point out a way that the design could be done better for the home or for the value of the house!

Well, hopefully that will be ME one day using all of my new found knowledge to get my own personal "Bang For Your Buck" in my home. Watch and learn!...on the HGTV network. Here's a few behind the scenes images for you!

Beauty Questions

Beauty question: "What is a good moisturizer for aging skin?"- from Jamie in Connecticut.

Answer: Dr. Sadick Park Avenue Prescription is a great option because it contains a daytime moisturizer to protect skin, a night time serum and night cream with retinol to renew and rejuvenate all in one set. It targets hydration and anti-aging all at the same time. The formula feels light weight without feeling greasy.

Now it is time for.....

MY FAVORITE THINGS

My favorite thing to mention this month is to leave your skin a little damp before adding your moisturizer to add extra hydration since the weather is so cold and dry during this time of the season. A great way to do that is to spritz your face with Evian mineral water.
